Question: What does trigger mean in marketing automation?

  • Updated

Trigger means the event that results in sending an individual message or a chain of automated messages. Trigger can be, for example:

  • A purchase from an online store
  • Downloading material from a website
  • Contact, feedback or filling out a form

You can use the customer data you have gathered as the basis of your automation. In this case the customer gets an automated message or a message chain when they fulfill a predetermined condition. For example:

  • Passed time (3 weeks from contact)
  • Passivation (no purchases in 2 months)
  • Customer feature
