Connecting WordPress Forms to LianaMailer with the GrowthStack Plugin

  • Updated

The supported form plugins currently are Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7, WPForms, and LianaAutomation forms.

Note: Before you can enable contacts, make sure that the LianaMailer API keys are correctly configured in the GrowthStack settings. You can get the API keys from your Liana contact person or from our technical support.

Connecting Forms to LianaMailer
Connecting a form to LianaMailer is a “one-click” process. The data collected on the form can be transmitted directly to LianaMailer, so manual field mapping is not necessary. The connection is made by toggling the switch in the “LianaMailer connected” column to the “on” position. Connecting requires adding the LianaMailer API keys in the GrowthStack settings.

The connection to LianaMailer provides more precise control over subscriber integration. Since this process adds contacts to specific mailing lists, it requires a brief configuration.

1. Select the Subscription Site

Choose the LianaMailer subscription site you want to use in the connection. This setting acts as a filter and determines which LianaMailer mailing lists and property fields are available in GrowthStack.

  • What if a list or property is missing? If you cannot find the desired list or field in the dropdown menus:

    • Mailing Lists: Make sure in LianaMailer that the list is set as subscribable and has been added to the selected subscription site.

    • Properties: Ensure that the property has been created in LianaMailer and added to the subscription site settings.

2. Select Mailing Lists

In the Mailing Lists field, you can select one or more lists to which the contact will be automatically added upon form submission.

  • Adding a selection field for the user: You can enable the "Let user choose which mailing lists to join in the form" setting if you want to add a selection field on the website form, allowing the user to choose which lists they want to join.

3. Field Mapping

Field mapping allows you to link individual form fields (such as "Company" or "City") to corresponding property fields in LianaMailer.

  • Required field: Mapping the Email field is essential for the integration to work.

  • Use the dropdown menus to connect the form fields to the desired LianaMailer properties.

More comprehensive data collection enables high-level personalization. For example, mapping the "Product Category" field allows sales teams to send targeted content based on the user’s needs.

Managing Opt-ins and Consents

Integrating website forms with LianaMailer often requires a clear way to collect consent for marketing communications. GrowthStack provides flexible tools to make the LianaMailer connection conditional based on the user’s choice.

When you configure the Opt-in field, the integration is conditional: contact information is sent to LianaMailer only if the user has explicitly checked the opt-in box on the form. A typical scenario: Use this on a general "Contact Us" form where you offer an optional checkbox like: "Yes, I want to also subscribe to the monthly newsletter."

Contact Form 7

You can set the opt-in directly in the GrowthStack configuration tool using the Opt-in Field dropdown. If you have already created a checkbox in your form plugin, select that field from the list.

If your form lacks a checkbox, choose the option that dynamically adds an opt-in box to the form for automation purposes.

Gravity Forms

In Gravity Forms, you can add an opt-in field using the separate LianaMailer Consent field, which is found in the Gravity Forms editor under "Advanced Fields".

In the settings for the LianaMailer Consent field, you can select which LianaMailer consent is used and rename the field label. The consent text is automatically retrieved from LianaMailer, but you can manually edit it to be more descriptive if needed.

Solutions to Common Questions

Forms do not appear in the list: If your website form does not appear in the GrowthStack view, make sure the form plugin you are using is supported and that the GrowthStack plugin is updated to the latest version.

LianaMailer lists or properties are missing: If you don’t see a particular list or field in the settings, check two things in LianaMailer:

  1. Make sure the list is set as subscribable.

  2. Make sure both the list and the property have been added to the subscription site you selected in GrowthStack.

Contacts are not transferred to lists: If form submissions succeed but contacts do not appear in LianaMailer, check the Opt-in settings. If the opt-in field is enabled, contacts are synchronized only if they have checked the box on the form.

Connecting to LianaMailer fails: Verify that you have entered the LianaMailer API credentials correctly in the GrowthStack settings. The LianaMailer API credentials must be entered in the designated field and cannot be used in the LianaAutomation API credentials section.
