Adding LianaCommerce domain to SendGrid

  • Updated

Depending on the installed features and built functionalities, LianaCommerce can send emails in the following situations:

  • Online store orders - receipts, order notifications, order change notifications, and payment reminders
  • User account management – activation and credentials messages for users, and password reset messages
  • Product management – inventory balance monitoring, notifications of product purchases
  • Comment moderation – notifications of new comments

LianaCommerce uses the SendGrid service to send emails. For an email to be sent through SendGrid, the domain of the sender's email address must be verified in the SendGrid service. Verification can be done from LianaCommerce settings.

1: Finding the sender settings

Go to the installation's admin panel and click “Settings” from the navigation list on the left side.

On the opened page, find the section “Emails” and click the link.

After this, you will see a list of email rules, which are the situations in which LianaCommerce sends emails. Select “Sending Settings” from the opened page.

The following page will open.

2:  Adding the Domain to SendGrid

In the "Sender settings" section, you will find a list of sender addresses for emails sent by LianaCommerce. The row where "Purpose" reads "General" is the default sender email address. It is used as the message sender (the "From" field in the email) if no other more specifically set sender email address is found.

If the email address domain has not yet been added or verified in the SendGrid service, you will see the following item on the email address row:

Press the button “Add domain as verified sender in Sendgrid”. This adds the domain to the SendGrid service.

If the domain has been added to the SendGrid service but has not yet been verified, you will see the DNS records required by SendGrid on the email address row:

Contact the domain administrator and ask them to make the mentioned changes to the DNS records. Once the domain's DNS changes have been made, return to this page. The verification check will then be performed automatically. If SendGrid confirms the DNS changes, the domain will be verified, and the following notation will appear on the email address row.

You can now successfully send emails from LianaCommerce.

3. Management of Denied Senders

If an email is sent from the LianaCommerce installation when the domain of the sender's email address has not been verified in the SendGrid service, the sender is considered denied and the email remains in the queue. Emails in the queue are displayed in their own section on the email settings page, if there are messages in the queue.

Above is an example of a situation where an email was attempted to be sent with a sender email address that has not been verified in SendGrid.

You can fix the situation by adding the listed email address domain to SendGrid using the instructions in section 2 and then pressing the ”Try resending” button. If this does not succeed, contact Liana support.
