Enhancing Your Account Security with Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

  • Updated

At Liana, we are committed to providing a secure environment for your digital marketing activities. To further protect your account and data, we are implementing Multifactor Authentication (MFA). This guide will provide you with information on what MFA is, the benefits it offers, the available options, and how to set it up.

What is Multifactor Authentication (MFA)?

Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is a security process that requires you to provide two or more verification factors to access your account. This adds an extra layer of security beyond just your username and password, making it significantly harder for unauthorized individuals to gain access, even if they know your password.

Think of it like having two locks on your door – even if someone picks one, the other still keeps them out.

Why are we implementing MFA?

  • Enhanced Security: MFA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, protecting your sensitive data from potential breaches.
  • Data Responsibility: Implementing strong security measures like MFA is part of our commitment to ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of your information.
  • Industry Best Practices: MFA is a widely recognized and recommended security standard for online platforms.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that your account is protected with an extra layer of security provides greater peace of mind.

Available MFA Options

When logging in after MFA is enabled, you can choose from the following verification methods:

Setting Up Your MFA Method (First Login After Implementation)

The first time you log in to your account after MFA has been enabled for your organization, you will be guided through the process of setting up your preferred MFA method. Here are the general steps:

  1. Enter your username and password as usual on the login page.

  2. You will then be prompted to choose your preferred MFA method from the available options (Email, SMS, or Authenticator App).

    • If you choose Email or SMS: Follow the on-screen instructions to verify your email address or phone number. A verification code will be sent to you. Enter this code to proceed.
    • If you choose Authenticator App:
      • You will be presented with a QR code and/or a setup key.
      • Open your chosen Authenticator App on your smartphone.
      • Scan the QR code or manually enter the setup key into the app.
      • The app will generate a time-sensitive verification code. Enter this code on the login page to complete the setup.
  3. Once you have successfully entered the verification code, your chosen MFA method will be linked to your account.

Managing Organization-Wide Default MFA (for Administrators)

Organization Administrators have the ability to set a default MFA method for all users within their LianaAccount. This can be managed within the organization settings. If a default is set, users within the organization will be prompted to configure the default method upon their first login after MFA is enabled.
